About Me

My photo
I have always had a love of art and all things creative. It all started sitting at my Mom's elbow, watching and following along as she took an at home art course. I was hooked! I majored in art in high school and for the most part am self taught. I came across my newest passion, Zentangle, about 5 years ago. This wonderful art form grabbed me and will not let go and I can honestly say it never will. My goal is to become a CZT, Certified Zentangle Teacher, and share this love with everyone. I currently work two jobs, one at a local florist and the other, a paint your own pottery studio. Both jobs allow the creative monkey on my back to run amuck and boy does she have a ball! I live in a small village in Ohio with Doug, my very understanding, very handsome husband of 30 years, and our two, four-legged little hairy kids, Bear and Molly. As for the name Tangledbirdie...my sister gave me the nickname Birdie some years back. The tangled part came in when I discovered Zentangle. There you have it!

Boy is it cold! How many times have you heard that this morning? LOL! Antarctica has moved into the Midwest.  About 32 below here with the windchill. Yikes! I hope you all are safe and warm.

I have a new tangle to share with you. It's from homework we had at the CZT Seminar #12 in Providence back in October. You had to find some kind of pattern within the hotel and break it down.
I found my inspiration on the border frame of my bathroom mirror. It reminded me of a roman laurel wreath so, that's where the name "Laurel" comes from.

I hope you like it. It's pretty easy to do.

This could also be done in the round to use as a frame, or the traditional square for a border. Lots of possibilities and tanglations can be done, so have fun, stay warm and tangle away!

Back!!!

Been an interesting couple of months. Got away from the blog. Health adventures took over. I finally realized one dream and made it to Rhode Island to get certified to teach Zentangle and I couldn't be happier. I didn't know at the time I went with pneumonia! Thought it was a really bad cold. When I came back I was put in the hospital 3 day later and spent a week in there and then a month at home with nurse visits for IV's and breathing treatments. But, I am thankful to say I am much better and ready to teach!
I have 3 classes scheduled already and I am so excited to share this wonderful artform with whoever I can!

Christmas was wonderful! My parents came up from South Carolina and split the visit between my sister and I. Had Christmas at my sister's new house, decorated so festive and gorgeous. My neice made it in and we missed my nephew who had to work Christmas, but he has lots of goodies coming his way! Just spending time with the family together is all the gifts I need. Nothing is more important than that!

Hoping you all have a blessed New Year!

Happy Tangling!!!

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Well, this day is winding down fast. Started early and run, run, run all day. Appointments and then lunch with my husband and Godchildren. Happy news! Spoke with owner of local coffee shop and I will be putting some of my artwork on display there! Very exciting!

Putting the finishing touches to my blog. I am pretty proficient at the computer, but some of this has me scrambling for my copy of "Computers for Dummies". I hate trying to decipher computer lingo. I much prefer the hands on approach of figuring it out as I go. It's more challenging, but hey, I love a good challenge now and then. Keeps the hamster on the wheel that is my mind working!

Off to see what else I can get into before bed. Have to keep the 10:00 time slot open for my favorite show, Duck Dynasty. Yes, I am a Quack Pack fanatic and I have converted my parents and some of my friends into watchers, too! So be advised, every once in a while you may see "Happy, happy, happy pop up here and there.

Have a good night!

Hello and welcome to Tangledbirdie Art!

                                                                                                                          April 1, 2013

This is my first foray into the world of blogging so it should be pretty interesting
to say the least. My hope is to share my love of the art form of Zentangle. This wonderful gift was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. To check out Zentangle, go to the official website, www.zentangle.com. I think, no...I know you will pleasantly surprised.

My goal is to become a CZT, Certified Zentangle Teacher when I attend their October CZT seminar in Rhode Island. I am too excited and while we are struggling to get into spring here in Ohio, October can't get here soon enough! I am a patient soul, so I will bide my time.

I hope that as the days go by, I find interesting tid-bits and other gobbledee gook to post that will amuse you and maybe make you go ah-ha, or just shake your head and say to yourself, "Good grief"! Either way, it will be an education for both of us.

Time to tangle a while before shutting down for the night. So...go draw something!
